Articles TutorialsIf you can find 3 selections per day that have a good chance of winning or placing, you can perm your selections to get 19 ways to win with doubles. If you can choose two or three selections that have a pretty good chance of winning or getting a place, you can use the following each way doubles to dramatically increase your chances of getting a payout. Total stake is 6 points and you get 19 different chances of a return.

Race 1
1 point Win – Horse A

Race 2
0.5 points Win – Horse B 0.5 points Win – Horse C

1 point each-way double on Horse A and Horse B
1 point each-way double on Horse A and Horse C

Here are the possible combinations of winning.

1)
A wins and B wins
C gets a place
The Result = 2 win singles, 1 win double, 2 place doubles.

2)
A wins and C wins
B gets a place
The Result = 2 win singles, 1 win double, 2 place doubles.

3)
A wins and B wins
C loses
The Result = 2 win singles, 1 win double, 1 place double.

4)
A wins and C wins
B loses
The Result = 2 win singles, 1 win double, 1 place double.

5)
A wins and B gets a place
C gets a place
The Result = 1 win single, 2 place doubles.

6)
A wins and B gets a place
C loses
The Result = 1 win single, 1 place double.

7)
A wins and C gets a place
B loses
Result = 1 win single, 1 place double.
8) A wins and B loses
C loses
Result = 1 win single

9)
B wins and A gets a place
C gets a place
Result = 1 win single, 2 place doubles.

Hi Pete

Basically you select one horse that you fancy strongly to win or at the very least finish placed, then from a 2nd race you pick two horses that also have good claims. With the 6 points staked you are backing each selection to win, but 1 point on your strongest selection and 1/2 point on each of the two horses in race two, in addition you also have a each-way double between your best bet (race 1) and both the horses in race two. That means you have a win double and place double between the the two races. Hope this helps answer your query….best of luck.

hi, sorry to be a pain,new at this game. just a couple of questions, in race 2 do i make 2 selections from one race?and (1 win double)doesn’t seem to mention making a bet for this.thanks for any help.regards pete.

Hi Hein

I am not familiar with South African racing as we have enough UK based racing to work with. However I believe that the main UK bookmakers such as Ladbrokes and William Hills do allow betting on the main SA meetings, you can open internet or phone accounts in a few minutes.

My nane is Hein and i would like you to please explain how i should place a (each way double) bet at a tote or bookmaker, do they have such a bet in South Africa
