A quiet day looking at the Betfair coupon for today, with cup games to the fore in the main, but Betting Pro Trades offered two selections to be played.

When I opened the market for the first time today, the odds on offer stood at 3.90/3.95. As usual, I placed an order at 3.80, and waited for things to happen.

By kick off, the odds had drifted slightly, to 3.95/4.00, and our bet had not been matched.

Odds stayed fairly static in the game’s early stages, and Ajax scored after 10 minutes. After some cursing, and thinking that this was to be scratched, Alkmaar equalised after 24 minutes.

So with three-quarters of the game to go, I took advantage of the lower odds available, at 3.35.

Presumably a different atmosphere in the stadium, this game was played behind closed doors, this game was the replay of the previous abandonment, when the keeper gave a fan an old fashioned kicking after invading the pitch last month.

Alkmaar took the lead after 32 minutes, and added a further goal at 55 minutes.

As I had taken lower odds to start with, and with Alkmaar holding the lead, I asked for odds of 6.80. However, the back bet was only picked up in the last ten minutes of play.

Profit achieved: £48.20.

When I first opened the market this morning, the odds on offer were 2.82/3.90, but not a single penny matched on unders.

By kick off, there was still not a lot of money in the market, and the odds had settled down to 3.70/3.75.

The game went in play, and waited eight minutes for our lay bet to be matched.

However, there was only one goal in the game, after 72 minutes, at which point the odds had reduced down to 1.16, and after the goal, went briefly over 1.75.

As the game only had the one goal, there was no opportunity to make a profit from the trade.
