Tandem LaysTandem Lays – Final Review

29th November 2011

Inspector Magnifique – Tandem Lays Final Review

Rating: Neutral

84 days is usually enough to see how a system or a service performs and to give a verdict. I feel that this is not the case this time and 84 days is not enough. Why? Well, the service suggests laying at high liabilities and the profit we’ve achieved can be wiped out by one or two losing selections. I’ll get into detail about it a bit later.

As seen from the review the service provided two types of selections – Tandem Lays and No.1 Lays.  From 84 days 17 had no selections for both types. There were several days when there were selections but they didn’t end as bets because did not satisfy the price filter or were withdrawn from their races.

Tandem Lays:

Selections arrived on 60 days, no selections on 7 days.
Number of selections: 140 (85 qualifying bets, 55 no bets)
Winning selections: 78
Losing selections: 7
Strike rate: 91.8%
Average odds of losing selections: 10.1
P/L: +14.25 pts

No.1 Lays:

Selections arrived on 24 days, no selections on 43 days.
Number of selections: 94 (28 qualifying bets, 66 no bets)
Winning selections: 25
Losing selections: 3
Strike rate: 89.3%
Average odds of losing selections: 7.25
P/L: +13.15 pts

Profitability:

Although, both sets of selections showed profit, the figures are not really impressive. Actually, it’s not the figures that I’m worried about it’s the horses that are suggested to lay, very high prices (to my taste). Most selection are layed between 6.0 and 20.0. Only one or two poor lays can wipe all of the profit for 3 months! Now this is something no one wants to experience and it’s definitely something that might happen. During the review Tandem Lays struggled to be in profit. It was down by nearly 20 points early and when we seemed to have recovered a couple of losers for us and again almost 20 points down. A long period of profitable lays came and we achieved overall profit. It was wiped out on Day 63, two months since the start and we stood almost where we’d started from. Pretty frustrating. The biggest loss was -12 pts. We also got -11 pts twice.

No.1 Lays performed better and despite there were a lot less selections showed nearly the same profit. Nevertheless, all problems mentioned above apply to No.1 Lay as well. Our biggest loss was -10 pts.

Now you may have already guessed why I think 84 days were not enough, simply because in a couple of days after the review had finished the service might have gone back to where we started. On the contrary, it also might have hit a long winning run. You never know.

So, the final figures give us an average profit of +0.33 pts a day and 9.15 pts a month from both sets of selections. Not bad actually, but downswings are sharp.

I used 500 pts for each system, so the bank has grown by 2.85% for Tandem Lays and 2.63% for No.1 Lays. The trial proved 100 pts bank (for each set of selections) would be enough with this service. That would give us 14.25% and 13.15% respectively. 3 stars out of 5

Weekly Profit/Loss for both systems

Ease of use and time spent:

Selections are mailed directly to your inbox. A lot of non-qualifiers is something I don’t like much, especially when all daily selections turn to no bets. The alternative is to set up a bot to place bets for you. The vendor does not provide one, but almost any bot will do. There are strict filters and if the selection does not match them  - no bet. When to place your bets is up to you, no guidelines. The vendor leaves it up to you. If you decide to do it manually some time before a race, there may be a problem as those prices tend to drift out often. So, I suggest using a bot, which also saves plenty of your time. 4 stars out of 5

Risk:

I’ve touched upon this earlier – way too high liabilities for me. Personally, I don’t like the idea of  making straight lay bet at such odds without a chance to limit your losses somehow. This can be very dangerous.

The bank of 500 pts proved to be super safe for this system, and you’d better have sufficient funds in your account. That would make you accept losses and save you from negative emotions. However, I feel 500 pts with 1 pt stake on a selection is probably too much. The trial proved 100 pts bank would be enough, but I’d suggest having the bank twice as that (i.e. 200 pts).

Of course, if you are cold-blooded, have nerves of steel and feel pretty comfortable with those liabilities you can neglect all this. 2 stars out of 5

Return on Liability (ROL):

Tandem Lays: 1.6%

No.1 Lays: 4.9%

No.1 Lays seems ok, but Tandem Lays ROL looks like it’s not worth it. 2 stars out of 5

With £40 a month for the service and that level of profitability, we should stake at least £20 pounds to make it worthwhile. This in turn means we could have liabilities as high as £380 and would need a bank of £2000.

I’m afraid I can’t give it 3 star rating which is the minimum to be among passed products and so I am giving it a neutral rating, with a view to re-reviewing it at some point.

Now don’t be fooled by the word ‘neutral’. You can make profit with Tandem Lays, but this is going to be a tough challenge. I wish the vendor to keep on doing his job and providing profits for his subscribers.

Overall I give it 2.5 stars out of 5

Racing Profits – Final Review

21st November 2011

Racing Profits

Inspector Magnifique – Racing Profits Final Review

Rating: Passed

Racing profits review lasted for 84 days and here’s what we have at the end of the period.

Of 84 days we had 51 actual betting days and 33 no betting days.  A no betting day with Racing Profits system means you run through the selection process, may have a selection or a couple of them for the day but in the end they will not qualify being not satisfying the price criterion, being withdrawn from the race, etc. You put almost as much effort into it as in betting days with presumably a bit less time spent.

In those 51 days there were 99 selections, 72 of which are ‘basic’ and 27 are ‘additional’. It must be noted these terms are not the author’s . It is recommended in the manual that betting no more than 2 horses a day with this strategy is enough to profit on a regular basis. However, you may end up with 3, 4 or more qualifiers. Thus, by ‘basic’ selections I mean only those that fit ‘betting no more than 2 horses a day’ recommendation and by ‘additional’ those exceeding this limit.

The strike rate specified is based on all 99 selections as well as the number of winning horses.

Total selections:  99
Winning selections:  33
Strike rate: 33.3%
Average odds of selections: 4.7
Average odds of winning selections:3.85
Stake per selection (level stakes): 1 pt
P/L (betting no more than 2 selections a day): +21.36 pts
P/L (betting all selections): +30.16 pts

Profitability:

The profit figures above clearly show that betting all qualifiers is more profitable than only two a day, I see no reason why it should be opposite. The profit is increased by 41%, which is a considerable figure. Probably,  the recommendation to limit the number of bets is there to prevent longer losing runs, which do happen. I’ll talk about them a bit later though.

The profit of +21.36 pts in 84 days period means we average around +0.25 pts a day. Excluding no betting days will bring this to +0.42 pts a day. Surely, the figure based on all days including the ones with no betting is more precise in showing what to expect from the system.

It’s quite steady too, which is shown in the graph below of weekly cumulative profit.

Now let’s see how that will improve if we bet all selections: +0.36 pts a day and +0.59 pts respectively.

This does not seem like much but should 1pt = £100, then the profit would stand around £36 a day.

With time and effort put into using the system you might expect bigger return, but I feel the profit is just enough to make it worthwhile.

A big concern for me is the Racing Profits figures for the period on racing-index.com, where the author’s selections are tracked.

Number of selections: 36
Winning selections: 6
BSP profit: -17.37 pts

This is totally different from what we’ve experienced throughout the review! I knew that my selections were not 100% as the author’s, which is ok but the difference is shocking. This could mean:

a) we are using the system differently

I recorded all qualifiers and missed only a couple of days. The author did not bet more than 2 horses a day (as shown on racing-index). With the ‘additional’ selections making almost 9 pts from 27 selections this is something to consider. Still this is not enough to make the reason for such a significant difference.

b) one of the two is using the system incorrectly

Well, if this is the case, then logically it should be me. How can a person who designed the system misunderstand it? However, I don’t see where I could misunderstand it at all. I did my best to follow the rules and am pretty confident in my selections.

On saying this I must emphasize that the rating for profitability is given based solely on my own experience with the system. Proceed with caution.

4 stars out of 5

Ease of use and time spent:

The system is a bit hard to implement at the beginning, but once you get used to it there’s no big trouble. It takes around 15-20 minutes to find your potential qualifiers. However, you have to be fully concentrated when running through selection process, it is rather easy to make a mistake. What may be a concern is the selections published at racing-index.com. As I’ve mentioned above they can be different from yours, and you can see what this can lead to.

I wouldn’t say the system is brain-deadening or too time-consuming, but there are definitely systems out there that are a lot easier to use. Not that they are profitable, of course.

3.5 stars out of 5

Risk:

Generally the Racing Profits perfomance is quite stable (speaking of my experience). Long losing runs are not frequent, but be prepared for 5 to 10 losing selections in a row. The longest losing run was 13 selections in a row, there were 7 losing selections in a row twice (betting all selections). Longest losing run in betting days was 8 days. With an average 30-40% strike rate, this is not something unexpected. The system is not very risky but requires discipline and ability to accept losses.

3.5 stars out of 5

Return on investment (ROI):

Betting 2 horses a day:  21.6%

Betting all horses: 30.5%

3.5 stars out of 5

Support and documentation:
The manual is written well, but some important points are missing. Sometimes two horses in one race fully satisfy the criteria of the system. It is said  you need to look at the particular stat in such circumstances and normally it helps, but not when that stat is the same for both selections. In this case you have no guidelines to follow and decide for yourself. It happened twice during the review period.

Speaking of support I had no contact with the vendor. I tried to mail him once asking why the selections I’m getting are a bit different from his but got no response and didn’t try any more. Nor did he contact me in any time.

2 stars out of 5

Racing Profits showed nice results and I would’ve given it a higher rating was it not for racing-index.com results. Although, it does not influence a lot it is something to take into account. 3 stars out of 5 overall.

Cheers,

Inspector Magnifique

Bonus Bagging – Final Review

18th November 2011

Inspector Magnifique – Reviews Bonus Bagging

Rating

Passed

A 12-week test of Bonus Bagging is over and it is time to summarize what we’ve experienced so far.

Profitability:

The final figure says it all. The service helped us turning our starting bank of £250 into £908 gaining an impressive £658 profit. That means our bank has grown by 263%. There were no swings, the bank was never in danger and here is a copy of the steadily rising graph.

Bonus Bagging

It’s not going to bring you riches, but there are no claims to do so. The stakes are limited by bookies terms which makes the profits limited too; in most cases you can’t expect making more than £30 from one offer. Obviously, ‘increasing your stakes’ to increase your profit will not work here. Another concern is probably what most of us have thought of – the number of the bookies. It is true that once you use them all you can’t do it again, but that does not mean you no longer can profit from the service. As seen from the review there are reloads from time to time which can bring some nice extra cash (look at CL bets, for instance), though there will be definitely less action. From a total of 37 offers, 20 were free bets given to new customers and 17 were offers for all, new and existing customers. About half of them were running at WillHill.

I must admit I didn’t have many bookie accounts and even after opening 20 new ones there are still quite a number of bookies left. Of course,  more could be done in such a long period, but I felt comfortable with the slow pace.

Another thing to mention here is that I left out many casino offers which could give as much as £400 profit, but they are quite risky, of course.

The service is perfect for building up a nice betting bank from a fairly low investment. 5 stars out of 5 and well worth paying  £27.

Ease of use:

The method suggested by the vendor is pretty easy to use and most of the time you are not likely to have any trouble. Although, there can be difficulties. One of them is terms and conditions of a bookie. They are tricky and misleading sometimes and have to be examined carefully which impels us to spend more time on it. Certain offers require putting more effort into them, this is true for live betting and especially casino offers. For me it was so for spread betting as well, I was struggling to understand how it all works for awhile. The instructions provided by the vendor make the whole process a lot easier and nearly saved me in case of spread betting. I give 4 stars out of 5 on this.

Risk:

The vendor claims his methods are risk-free and though this is true, there are risks involved even where they are not meant to be. Even when you do everything correct there is a slight possibility of something going against you, like wrong understanding of T&C or bet lapse, etc. Luckily this is a rare case and hasn’t happened to me during the review period. The only problem I had was with WillHill refund when I wasn’t eligible for the promotion but didn’t know it and participated.

Casino offers in turn may be dangerous. I omitted those risky ones  to be on the safe side. 4.5 stars out of 5 for risk.

Return on investment (ROI):

Unfortunately, I can’t report exact figures here as I didn’t  record all the stakes. I would advise having twice your starting bank. Not that my starting bank was not enough, but in some cases I had to use ‘reserve’ money (as with spread betting, for example). So in case you want to start with £200, you’d better have at least £400. That would help both to use the offers to full advantage and fasten the whole process. Besides, you never know when some nice reloads are going to come up. 4.5 stars out of 5.

Support and documentation:

Subscribers are provided with all the necessary instructions, spreadsheets and tools. The support was excellent for me, all questions and queries answered fast and communication was nice. An LTO reader described a bit of the opposite experience in the comment section of Week 12 post, but speaking for myself I have only positive impressions of the support. 5 stars out of 5.

Time needed to apply the system:

This calls to what’s been said in ‘Ease of use’ section, but normally it doesn’t take much time doing stuff with Bonus Bagging. However, if you want to ensure everything will go your way you need to spend more time. What I personally like is that you can choose how much you want to do and when. 5 stars out of 5.

There are some readers that won’t be able to take full advantage of Bonus Bagging service due to restrictions and limitations of bookies. E.g. Skybet does not accept registrations from a number of European countries. Spread betting companies currently allow only UK and Irish customers. This is a specific concern for people from Western European countries as they are not eligible for free bets and promotions at a lot of bookmakers. Readers from the UK and Ireland have nothing to worry, though.

Of course, as you exhaust the bookies on the list your profits will decrease and this is the major reason I’m giving Bonus Bagging 4.5 stars overall instead of 5.
