In a new series of horse racing articles I will be researching the habits and routines of the trainers to attempt to provide some profitable pointers by suggesting we back the runners from particular stables during the coming weeks.

I will be using a combination of past data from such resources as the Racing Post, Adrian Massey and Sporting Life sites coupled with recent form to highlight a short-list of Trainers and/or particular race types that may provide us with a source of winners and hopefully a profit at the end of the month.

In subsequent months I will report back on the results of each previous month and these will be based on placing a theoretical 1 point win bet using the Betfair SP facility.

To kick things off for the month of March, I have selected the following:- More on Trainers to Follow – March 2010

A quick search on “Google” using “horse racing blogs” currently brings up 36,200,000 results………… now that’s a lot of people talking about our Sport of Kings, and is also a potential goldmine of useful, and generally free information.

One such blog is written by the guy who heads up the Flat Racing Select service that is being trialled over on our Horse Racing Forum. I had a good read of his race reader blog and my attention was drawn to an article on how Steve had analysed the effect of pace in a particular type of race.

Having checked with him he is happy for us to quote from his article as follows:- More on Making the Best of Free Resources – Part Six

Well that is the very bold claim that the 1000 Point a Year System is being launched with. I will be carrying out a trial on our horse racing forum to follow the systems progress, and I am very hopeful that it can deliver what it says on the tin. The 1000 Point a Year System is from the same author as The Gamekeeper Turn Poacher, who is our very own lay betting guru Mark Layton.

The Gamekeeper trial had an early setback due to the adverse weather conditions leading to inconsistent form from the few surviving meetings, but it’s beginning to show its true colours so far in February with many winning lay selections.

Mark’s 1000 Point a Year System takes advantage of an old adage “Horse for Courses” by using the proven and long standing theory but in respect to trainers and jockeys for courses. Knowing which courses and conditions suit trainers and which also suit particular jockeys is the key to its success and that translates into profits.

The past three years results were as follows:-

2009    1073.20 Points Profit

2008    1224.41 Points Profit

2007    1277.67 Points Profit

That is 3575.28 points profit in those three years based on a strike rate of around 30% and using industry starting prices. So far in 2010 there have only been 25 selections and of those there have been 8 winners producing +24.54 points profit. Although it is very simple to find the selections at a glance from any newspaper the method comes with a 3 month tipping line to help you confirm that you are making the correct selections.

Another great offer available at the moment is with the betting exchange at Betfair. If you open a new account from here you will have the opportunity to earn £50.00 bonus (see terms and conditions to ensure that you qualify). This will allow you to start backing the selections from Mark’s new method with the free cash that the Betfair bonus will provide…… that sounds like my kind of offer!!!!!!!!
