Bumper Profits

1

Each year at the Cheltenham National Hunt (Jumps) Festival in March there is a particular race which is run without obstacles and specifically for relatively inexperienced horses – The Weatherby Championship Bumper Race.

The majority of the 25+ runners hail from the  top stables such as Willie Mullins, Paul Nicholls, David Pipe etc. As a simple and effective way of compiling a list of horses to follow you could do worse than simply taking note of all of the entries in this race. Many go onto win during their careers and return to compete in the  Hurdles and Chase races at subsequent Festival meetings.

However BUMPER PROFITS concentrates on those runners from outside of these top trainers by selecting those trained by the likes of Paul Webber, Victor Dartnall etc. The rationale behind this method is quite simple. To run a horse in this Championship status race, against so many of the top trainers, our selection must be held in very high regard by its connections. The race is a tough and competitive one, and not an occasion for a “schooling” session in public.

Of the 26 horses that met the Bumper Profits criteria during the period 2005 up to and including the 2009 race, no less than 20 of them went on to win a race within their next few starts. We can use this information to help create some very impressive profits.

By simply placing a £10 win bet on each of our qualifiers next runs, stopping the sequence when the horse won, we would have placed a total of 48 bets. The summary results are as follows:-

Total Stakes £480.00

Total Returns £1116.73

Overall Profit to SP +£636.73

Return on Investment +132%

With the opportunity to now place our bets using the  Betfair SP option, I am confident that the overall profit would be significantly greater.
