Bank & Staking Plan for BOSS

0

One of my main gripes about the, otherwise very creditable, BOSS software, is that there is no coherent Bank or Staking strategy that can be used in conjunction with it. That is why I have designed one simple and easy to maintain strategy that will enhance the betting experience you get from the BOSS.

Bank Size

Most importantly the bank size is limited to the amount you can afford to lose. Why does it always say that, when you start talking about bank size? Because it is true. The cold facts are that approximately 97% of bettors lose money over a long period of time, meaning the possibility of their bank going bust is all too evident.

I always relate my bank size to the odds I am betting at. The reason I do this is because the odds you are betting at will determine the potential losing run you may have. For instance, if you back race horses at 16/1 you could be waiting a long time for a winner and if you had a bank of only 20 points you would probably be bust before finding one. On the other hand if you were backing even money shots your losing runs would be so much shorter and the requirement of a large bank not so great.

ProbabilityFor me the even money shot is very relevant to the size of bank required for the BOSS system. Without going into the “theory of probabilities” the simplest way to describe it is when you toss a coin. The odds are fixed, you have a 50/50 chance that it will come down heads. Obviously, this is an even money shot, but how does this help us estimate the required bank size? Well what you need to know is the likeliest longest losing run at the odds of evens and it is from that where you can work out the bank size.

If you tossed the coin 550 times the probabilities are that it would land on heads 9 consecutive times at least once during that sequence, (http://www.probabilitytheory.info). This means that any losing sequence at evens would run to 9 over 550 bets. For those who already have BOSS (Betting on Soccer Strategy), you will know that we can make bets over a variety of odds from 5/1 to 50/1 but because we are covering perhaps up to 9 scenarios in one match, in real terms we are usually betting at odds of between 1/3 and evens.

So let’s work on the fact that we bet at evens and we could have 9 losers in a row, so we need a bank to cover this contigency. By betting at 1 point a time then, you will need a bank of at least 10 points to keep it intact. To safeguard the bank even further I would personally double that up to 20 points-—–this then is more than double the expected longest losing run. Thus if the worst comes to the worst and you do hit this bad run within the next 550 bets, then your bank would be able to take the strain without any undue pressure.

For BOSS then, I work on the premise that you need a 20 point bank. This means that if your liabilities are £50/game, you will need a bank of 50×20=£1000. If your liabilities are £10/game you will need 10×20=£200 in your starting bank.

Staking Plan

Please be aware that this Staking Plan is purely for use with the BOSS system. That does not mean that it wouldn’t work just as well with other systems, as long as they were proven systems with a good strike rate. I know from experience that BOSS has a very good strike rate, in the region of 75-80%.

So for arguements sake let’s say we start with a bank of £2000 and this equates to 20 points, as we have found out above. This then will define the liabilities that I could withstand on each game i.e. 2000/20=£100. When we go to the software to frame our bets, we know that we are working on a total stake of £100 and so we would use the total stake button rather than the total profit button.

When you first start using BOSS, I would opt for safety and work on small margins, until you have built up your expertise and confidence. As for the staking plan I use with BOSS, well it is not level stakes, which I use for my single bets and it is not variable stakes, which I use for longshots, it is a percentage of bank strategy.

Each time I use the system I stake 5% of the current bank as this affords me a constant 20 point bank. Because I have faith in the strike rate of the system, by compounding up my stakes it gives me the opportunity to build the bank more quickly. For this reason I only use the system on one game at a time, so that I can re-calculate the bank and my next stake after each successive game. This in no way limits you because there are so many games in a week and all with different kick-off times, that you could use it 10 times a week if you chose to.

  1. Bank should be 20 points
  2. Total stake should always be 5% of current bank
  3. Add winnings to your bank and use 5% for next bet
  4. Start off small with 20/30% returns
  5. Build expertise and confidence
  6. You will soon be up to 70% returns

Using this method your bank would always be safe, remember the longest losing sequence is 9 when betting at these odds, over 550 bets. I probably use the system about twice a week, so at that rate I would only get one losing run of 9 in 5 years and I’m sure that by then the bank would have grown considerably.

A sensible approach would be to take out all your winnings at the end of each season, just leaving your starting bank for next year.
