I came across False Favourites lay betting by Jonathan Burgess in my mailbox on Friday and was immediately struck by the enormity of it. It’s an e-book consisting of well over 200 pages! Surprisingly, hardly any of the content was the usual Betfair rubbish.

It was full of sound advice on finding  favourites that are likely to lose and an almost psychological approach to laying horses. The book is split into three parts; National Hunt, Flat and the all weather. A slightly different approach is required for each code.

False Favourites - Jonathan BurgessThe author suggests concentrating on one code at a time, which is sound advice. Every element is written about in full detail. the aim, of course, is to find favourites that are likely to lose. A suggested maximum odds is recommended, reducing liabilities.

I haven’t had time to test out the theories yet, but everything looks in order (the manual is full of statistics) and there is a FREE e-book as a bonus – A Guide to the new racing Post online version – something that will aid those used to the free of charge version. The manual has been fully updated for 2009/10 and at £27.99 represents excellent value, without a test.

This week we have seen the second installment of Making a Living From Football Betting entitled The Edge, Expectations and Value, well worth a read. We have also seen 2 reviews on football software products, The BOSS and Soccer Magic Matrix. Both of these come highly recommended and will not only lift your football betting experience but will increase your bank profits into the bargain.

Next week I will be placing a number of useful football sites in the Directory of The Football Section and Wednesday will see episode 3 of Making  a Living.

Tonight we also have the World Cup Draw which will be fascinating. There have been a number of contributions to this thread on the Football forum site on LTO, which you may want to go and visit for a look around.
